Himachal Pradesh Current Affairs April 2025 

Governance, Administration, and Policy:

  • Mandi cyclist Jaspreet Pal (44) was declared the State Election Icon on April 8, 2024, to boost youth voter participation. 
  • The HP government notified paid holidays on April 9, 2024, for the Lok Sabha and Assembly bye-elections, including for voters from neighboring states working in HP border areas. 
  • Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena presided over the 5th State Level STF meeting for the elimination of Single Use Plastic (SUP) in April 2024

Economy and Finance:

  • Himachal Pradesh’s gross GST revenue for April 2024 was ₹1,015 crore, a 6% year-on-year increase. 
  • The pre-settlement State GST (SGST) for Himachal Pradesh in April 2024 reached ₹303 crore, a 1% increase from April 2023. 
  • Post-settlement SGST for Himachal Pradesh in April 2024 stood at ₹666 crore, a 7% growth from April 2023. 

Schemes, Development, and Infrastructure:

  • The 32 MW Pekhubela Solar Power Project in Una district was dedicated to the public on April 15, 2024.
  • SJVN launched India’s first multi-purpose green hydrogen pilot project at Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station on April 26, 2024.
  • New electricity tariff rates by HPSEBL became applicable from April 1, 2024.
  • The state was advised by PAB-PM POSHAN to investigate and report on the reduction in student meal coverage by April 30, 2024.
  • CM Sukhu virtually launched a water sports project at Kol Dam, Bilaspur, on April 11, 2025

  • An IIT-Mandi research team developed biodegradable smart microgels for sustainable agriculture 
  • The HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala became India’s first venue with hybrid pitch technology, announced April 16, 2024, in collaboration with SISGrass.

Environment and Disaster Management:

  • 1,684 forest fires were reported in Himachal Pradesh since April 2024, damaging 17,471 hectares.
  • The Rural Development Department signed an MoU with ACC Cements Ltd. on April 23, 2025

Culture, Events, and Tourism:

  • Himachal Day was observed on April 15, 2024, with the state-level function at Killar, Pangi Valley, Chamba. 
  • The three-day Suhi Mata Fair in Chamba commenced on April 11, 2024.
  • The Thirshu Fair in Upper Shimla, celebrating good harvest, was reported around Baisakhi 
  • World Heritage Day was observed on April 18, 2024, with the “Chalo Chamba” campaign highlighted.
  • The Thakur Ved Ram National Awards ceremony was scheduled for April 21, 2024, in Kullu to honor excellence in the cooperative sector and other fields.
  • The “Voice of Kinnaur” community radio station was launched by the Army at Pooh, Kinnaur (reported April 20-21, 2025, but refers to an earlier launch, potentially relevant if groundwork was in April 2024).
